IU Student Outreach Clinic Technical Support

IU Student Outreach Clinic is the largest service learning outreach program at Indiana University. In addition, the program includes student participation from Butler University, University of Indianapolis and several other schools.

The program runs a free clinic each Saturday in a low-income neighborhood on the Near Eastside of Indianapolis. Services offered include medical, pharmacy, and legal consultations.

SoIC and COMET are providing support for IUSOC with service learning projects produced through the N465/I465 Informatics For Social Change course. Service learning projects include informational videos, educational programs for volunteers, and technical support for volunteer management. COMET will make Independent Study opportunities available, as well.

IUSOC is currently expanding their work to new cities and campus locations. Service learning students are involved in updating the website functionality to support the increased volunteer participation. The current projects will improve the volunteer signup process, volunteer messaging, and provide video orientation programs for new volunteers.

GET INVOLVED! COMET's work with the IUSOC project needs interested students. Opportunities for Service Learning and Independent Study projects are available. IUSOC needs students skilled in video production, audio production, website development, database and back-end development. Get in touch and let the COMET team know about your interest in this project.
